The flashings and tray are lifted so that the apron and soakers can be
built into the slate roof, turned up underneath the flashings. |

Once the flashing is dressed down, the soakers are not seen yet
form a waterproof barrier. |

Finally, once the liners and vermiculite cement are brought up flush with the
top of the brickwork, the chimney is "flaunched" in with cement, forming a dome for the water to
run off to the side, where the drip course will tend to keep the drips clear of the
sides. |

For a bit of belt and braces, add some waterproofer to the cement
used for the flaunching. |
