The flashings and tray are lifted so that the apron and soakers can be built into the slate roof, turned up underneath the flashings.

Once the flashing is dressed down, the soakers are not seen yet form a waterproof barrier. The flashings across the front and back of the chimneys are turned down over the top of the aprons

Finally, once the liners and vermiculite cement are brought up flush with the top of the brickwork, the chimney is "flaunched" in with cement, forming a dome for the water to run off to the side, where the drip course will tend to keep the drips clear of the sides.

For a bit of belt and braces, add some waterproofer to the cement used for the flaunching.
